The VintageLens Signature Half Case for the Leica Q3 is a precision-engineered leather case designed to provide everyday protection without compromising the camera elegant form factor. Molded specifically for the Leica Q3 body dimensions, this case delivers a glove-like fit that enhances grip while maintaining full access to every dial, button, port, and the battery compartment.
Crafted from Minerva Box leather — another masterwork from the Badalassi Carlo tannery — this case develops a distinctive pull-up effect where lighter streaks appear at flex points, creating a lived-in character that Leica owners appreciate.

Camera Compatibility
This case is precision-molded exclusively for the Leica Q3 (Type 6801, released 2023). It is not compatible with the Leica Q2, Q (Type 116), or Q-P due to differences in body dimensions, button placement, and port locations.

Base Plate Engineering
The integrated base plate is CNC-machined from aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum billet. After machining, each plate undergoes Type III hard anodizing for a surface hardness of 60+ Rockwell C, providing exceptional scratch and wear resistance.

Craftsmanship Details
Each Signature Half Case requires approximately 8 hours of hand work:
- Pattern & Cutting: Leather is cut using a precision steel die matched to the exact Q3 body scan dimensions. Each piece is inspected for grain consistency.
- Wet Molding: The leather is dampened and formed over an exact 3D-printed replica of the Leica Q3 body. It dries under controlled humidity for 24 hours to achieve the precise contour.
- Interior Lining: Alcantara microfiber is bonded to the interior using archival-quality adhesive. This lining prevents any contact between leather and the camera finish.
- Stitching: All seams are saddle-stitched with Bakers waxed polyester thread (0.6mm) at 3.5mm pitch. Corner reinforcements receive double stitching.
- Base Plate Integration: The aluminum plate is attached with 4 M3 stainless steel screws through brass threaded inserts in the leather base, allowing future plate replacement if needed.
- Snap Installation: Prym snap buttons are set with a professional press for consistent closure force.
- Quality Control: Each case is test-fitted on a reference Leica Q3 body, inspected for button/dial clearance, and photographed for our production archive.
About Minerva Box Leather
Minerva Box is a full-grain vegetable-tanned leather produced by Badalassi Carlo using a proprietary process that creates a distinctive waxy hand feel. The leather is tumble-dyed, meaning the color penetrates deeply into the fiber structure rather than sitting on the surface. This gives Minerva Box its characteristic pull-up effect — when flexed or scratched, lighter tones appear, creating a unique patina that evolves with use. Minor surface marks can be buffed out with a soft cloth or gently warmed with a hair dryer to self-heal.
Care Instructions
- Wipe with a dry soft cloth after use to remove dust and fingerprints.
- Minor scratches will self-heal — gently rub with your thumb or warm with a hair dryer on low heat for 5 seconds.
- Condition with Saphir Renovateur or Badalassi Carlo recommended leather balm every 4–6 months.
- Store in the included cotton dust bag when the case is not mounted on the camera.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight when not in use to prevent uneven patina development.
- The base plate requires no maintenance. If desired, wipe with a dry cloth.
